Default official weigh in and progress

Ok so my grandma who is 79 years old weighed in at 167.5 and she is trying to lose 15lbs for an end weight of 152.5. Weigh in tonight showed she is already down to 165! My brother weighed in at 278 and he hopes to lose 20lbs for a final weigh in of 258. It works because what are you going to complain about when there are kids out there who are really suffering?

Awesome! We've been doing the low-carb thing, and already feeling a lot better.

Default update

Hi, No weigh in for two weeks ago bc we were in the ER with my mom's kidney stone. Weigh in for last Friday took so long because of the SHAME! My grandma has put on two lbs and my brother has put on 5lbs??? My grandma had lost 3lbs so she says she still has a 1lb credit. They are trying to claim it is muscle weight! I've been cracking the whip LOL so we'll see what happens next Friday. I will admit that while my mom has been sick we've been having a lot of comfort foods around. And how do you give your 79 year old grandma the stink eye when you catch her with a bowl of ice cream? I've been getting her the fruit and yougurt parfaits from mcdonald's, but I doubt they are much better than ice cream.

Katie and I are doing pretty well...she is down 10lb and I'm down 18lb right now. I'm hoping to drop 30 by the end of the month and she's shooting for 15, so we're both on pace for our goal.

I am impressed. Has it been difficult? Are you guys still dieting or eating less or exercising? Those are really impressive numbers. Is Paige suffering bc of the diet or is she still getting some goodies?

We are just dieting...Atkins diet. Low/No carbs. Pretty easy diet really. Last time we did it, Katie cheated a lot and didn't lose a pound. This time she is taking it seriously and doing well. You can't cheat on Atkins...one day of cheating sets you back nearly an entire week of dieting.

Default final result

Both my grandma and my brother did not lose any weight. They had each had a couple of sponsers for $1 per lb and my brother was to lose 20lbs and my grandma 15. They are going to donate the money themselves. It's ok with me that it turned out this way. After you have a child diagnosed with a life threatning disease everything else is small potatos; they supported Aiden and me through treatment and for that alone I can never truly be upset with my family. I think they feel guilty too. I signed up to run the Chicago Marathon last October and did go and attempt it; I felt very guilty like kids with cancer do this and this and this and you can't run 26 miles! As time goes on though I think sometimes it is the thought that counts. I told my old roomate that I would like to give her a toy that she had given Aiden but I didn't know if I could part with it just yet and she told me it was ok.. it was the thought that counted. So ideally we will always fufill the goals we set for ourselves but sometimes we just hide out and try to survive and hope we're understood.

LOL...It is definitely the thought that counts. Tell them thank you for participating!

Our final result for January (though our diets still continue) is that I lost 23lb and Katie lost 7lb by January 31. My goal is still 14lb away (I'm down 26lb as of today) and Katie's is still 18lb away, so we have a ways to go yet.

Thanks to all who participated!
